I just received a message from a Nicole Wilson(email address: life4realxxx@yahoo.com) on the item I just listed on CL. The message told me to consider the item sold and that if I sent full name, street address and phone numbers, I would receive a cashier's check in a few days. Fortunately, I searched on Nicole Wilson and found this post. Thank you very much for the alert!

I just received the same email from Nicole Wilson regarding a sofa and chair I listed. It just seemed suspicious so I googled her name and found this. I'm just ignoring it for now. Anything I can do to help catch this person?
Thanks for the warning.

I was contacted by a Nicole Wilson today, with regard to my dresser.

She said "consider it sold", to take the listing down, and that she'd be paying with a cashier's check . Sounded fishy all along..

kinda funny since it would cost hundred or so dollars to ship a heavy TV to the UK...

I'm right in the middle of what I believe to be a scam from a Nicole Wilson who claims to be from the UK, and is currently in Laos West Africa 'having trouble with Customs' for a consignment of antiques bound for the US. Claims she lives in Kent. She (or he) uses an internet dating site to make initial contact. If anyone wants a photo of the pic she's using, leave a post here and I'll send it you

I didn't get an email from a Nicole Wilson but I did get the same message from a 'Nick Karson' @ n.karson1000@gmail.com & a 'Jeannie Raleigh' @ j.raleighx3@yahoo.com; so I'd watch out for those 2. I put up an item and got the email message from 'Nick' first, didn't think twice about it & took my item down. When I got the exact same message from 'Jeannie' I knew it was a scam. Did a search & found this place. Very useful info, keep up the good work!

Well I have gotten the same emails about an item I had on CL here is my email,

i received an email from Nicole wilson regarding an item i was selling. this person had this email:
nicoleiswilsonxx9@gmail.com. so beware he or she is a scammer!

Anonymous said...

beware of Tola West. her/his email is tolawest@gmail.com. this person was also asking me to wire "access" money via western union. the check was obviously fake and i told this person i wont do business with her unless she comes picks up the item and pays me cash( which i will also check with the spacial marker) never heard from her again.

beware of daniel lappen (daniellappen8g801@hotmail.com.) he used different names in his emails which was kinda weird. he wrote me the same thing all of them write and he sent me a fake check, so he is also a scammer. i told him a piece of my mind, after which i never heard from him again. ALWAYS DEAL LOCAL!!!!!! (DUHH)sometimes i like to play along with their minds and at the end give them my two cents! i dont give them my address though

I got the same e-mail that several of you got from Nicole Wilson. I was told that the check was in a mail but that there was a problem. The check had been made out for $4100 instead of $900 and that when I received the check I needed to cash the check and western union her the excess funds minus an extra $100 for my troubles. Thank God I smelled foul play and did some investigating before I cashed the check otherwise I would be responsible for repaying the $4100!!!!

Here is how her/his e-mails read...

THEN I GOT THIS....

Hi ,how was your day ?I want you to understand that the deal is on and my secretary as posted the payment promptly, but there was a little problem which i guess we can handle with care while i contacted her to confirm if the payment as been mail out she said my boss issued a single check of $4100 for your item and other items bought. The payment was already posted before i was inform about this but i wouldn't want
this to delay the sale. All you do once you have the payment is to
take it to you Bank and have it cashed and you will then deduct the
money for your item plus $100 for your running around. The excess fund on the payment will then be wired to my mover via western union that same days so that he can come for pick up as i already plan on using the excess on the payment to offset the cost of the various shipments he as undertaken on my behalf.Do let me know if i can trust you to have the excess sent to my mover thank you, best Regards.

THIS PERSON NEEDS TO BE CAUGHT! Thank you for having this website to help protect us from scammers!!

The e-mail that he/she was using in May 2009 is...
nicolewilsonx01@gmail.com

I just had this same person, using similar, but several emails addresses at once:
nicoleiswilsonxxx5@gmail.com
nicolewilsonxxx@yahoo.com

Same message type - poor language translation - asking to use their mover, same request for address information.

Her email was sent minutes after I posted - must have some sort of scan for specific language.

Thank you for posting this information - It is sad hoe awful people are - I am requesting local pick up and cash only upon pickup from now on!

Received the same email today only from "allaka bobo" same exact awkward wording:
I am pasting below because searching this language is what led me here:

Hello, sorry for the late response....I really appreciate your response to my

mail.I want you to consider the item sold, pls do withdraw the advert from

Craigslist to avoid disturbance.I want you to know that i will be paying via

cashier's check .I will need you to provide me the following information to

facilitate the mailing of the check...

1.Full name to write on the check
2.Full Physical address to post the check
3.Home & Cell Phone to contact you

Please note 'United Parcel Service' do not deliver to P.O.Box addresses and i

will not be mailing a draft to one.My mover will be coming over for the pick up

right only after the payment as been delivered.Kindly delete the posting as

am totally committed to buying from you to save cost.Get back to me as soon

as possible.

The whole thing just stunk. Thanks for this website! I had never posted anything on Craig's List before because of "Craig's List Creepers." Now I'm not sure if I ever will again.
